I like the wide array of built in filters. There are quite a few that are useful for getting around the problems that most apps have. The downside to having such a wide array of filters is that I cant find one that will accomplish everything I need to achieve.
Apart from filters, Affinity has a wide array of built in tools, shapes, text tools etc that are useful for all sorts of different tasks, however many are not available in Photoshop.
The only major con is the lack of Photoshop support.
The three other things that I think make the product worth while are:
1. It is readily available on the mac App Store, you download it and drag it onto the Dock and start using it, no messy installer.
2. The product is well thought out, it is not a mishmash of similar apps, it has a nice uncluttered interface.
3. The product comes with a number of tutorials that make it easy to follow and if you need more information they are readily available on the Serif website.
Its really a swiss army knife of software for when you need a little more functionality, the tools are well thought out and some are missing from Photoshop but are in other pro apps.

When you compare Affinity to Adobe products you have to understand that Adobe have set the price well above the cost of the software itself. This may not be apparent to the average buyer, as they may be looking at a subscription based product. The price for the two products are around the same except the annual subscription cost for Photoshop is around Â£380 and Â£420 for Lightroom.

I think if youre really dependent on the fancy tools Illustrator has to offer, it could be a much harder transition. Another thought, too, is that I think they were focusing all of their manpower into finishing up other projects. 2019 should be an interesting year to say the least.
